To Get The Best Fit
Follow our "How To Measure" guide to get your body measurements. For a well-fitting shirt, we recommend having at least 2-3" of space around your chest and 3-4" of space around your waist.
Please keep in mind that this is a general guideline, and personal preference may vary.
Wrap the tape measure around the lower portion of the neck, below the Adam’s Apple. This is where a shirt collar will normally sit. When you take this measurement, leave at least one finger space between the tape measure and the neck, to ensure that the shirt collar will not be too tight or uncomfortable once it is buttoned up. If you are unsure of your measurement, always round up to the nearest quarter-inch. A person’s neck measurement will normally correspond with their dress shirt size (e.g. a 15.5” neck means that you should typically wear a size 15.5 dress shirt).
To measure a person’s chest, have them lift their arms so you can wrap the tape measure around the widest/fullest portion of their chest. Once you have the tape measure in position, then the person being measured can relax their arms by their sides. When you’re taking this measurement, make sure the tape measure runs parallel to the ground in a straight line. You don’t want the tape to be riding up high or sagging low across their back. If you are unsure of your measurement, always round up to the nearest quarter-inch.
To measure a person’s waist for a shirt or jacket, wrap the tape measure around their midsection/stomach, just above their belly button. If the person does have a more prominent stomach, then make sure you measure around the fullest portion of the belly. Make sure the tape measure is level and not sagging low or riding high at any point. If you are unsure of your measurement, always round up to the nearest quarter-inch.
When measuring the sleeve length for a dress shirt, start at the top centre-back area, which is where the neck meets the shoulders. You should be able to feel the bone of their spine at this point. From there, run the tape measure over the top of their shoulder, and then straight down their arm to the fleshy or meaty portion of their hand, which is around the mid-palm area. If you are unsure of your measurement, always round up to the nearest quarter-inch.
To measure a person’s shoulders, have them stand naturally with their arms hanging relaxed by their sides. From their back, feel for the outer edge of their shoulder bone on their left side. Once you have found it, find the same point on their right shoulder as well. Measure across their shoulders between these 2 points from bone to bone, and make sure that your tape measure is following the natural curvature of their shoulders and forming an arch or “rainbow” shape (not a straight line). If you are unsure of your measurement, always round up to the nearest quarter-inch.
Measure around the base of your neck where the collar naturally sits. Leave enough room to comfortably fit one finger between the tape and your neck. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next size up.
With your chest relaxed, measure around the fullest part. Keep the tape snug but not tight, making sure it remains level and parallel to the ground.
Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist. Keep the tape snug against your body without pulling it tight.
Starting at the centre back, just below the collar, measure across the shoulder and down the arm to where you want the sleeve to end. Keep your arm hanging naturally and relaxed.
Starting at the outer edge of one shoulder bone, measure across the natural curve of your upper back to the same point on the opposite shoulder.
Measure around your waist where you normally wear your trousers. Keep the tape snug against your body without pulling it uncomfortably tight.
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat. Keep the tape snug but not tight, making sure it remains level and parallel to the ground.
Measure around the fullest part of your thigh. Keep the tape measure snug against your body without pulling it tight.
Our team can help compare your measurements, explain the differences between fits, and recommend the size that will work best for you.
